Within the first half of the movie we get to know that Vikram Prabhu is a man of simplicity with a constant passion to save people, and aspires to become a firefighter. He has four friends who are loyal to him and their friendship is so thick, that all of them wants to serve for the fire service department along with him. One day Vikram Prabhu unexpectedly sees Nikki Galrani trying her best to put out a fire, and he immediately falls for her. He then later finds out that she is a doctor and successfully woos her.
In the meanwhile, Varun gets into trouble with a local rowdy, Vincent Asokan, and accidentally kills him. His close friend, a gang leader, Madhusudhan Rao, gets disrupted over the death of Vincent and promises to seek revenge by killing the person who killed his friend. A frightened Varun opens up to his best friend, Vikram Prabhu, and begs him to help him out of this situation.
In order to help his friend, Vikram Prabhu takes the blame, and goes to the local counsellor, Rajendran, and explains the situation and requests him to help him. But when Rajendran finds out that Madhusudhan Rao is involved in this, he abruptly backs off. The rest of the plot revolves around how he gets out of this trouble that he voluntarily got himself into and whether his dream of becoming a firefighter is achieved.
The movie gains momentum with the second half of the movie, as it contains a lot of twists and turns at unexpected scenes. Vikram Prabhu has done a good performance as a loyal friend and a caring son. His chemistry with Nikki Galrani was appreciated by a lot. Whereas Nikki Galrani has done an adorable job by acting like a playful and an active girl, who is immensely in love with Vikram Prabhu. Rajendran as usually made all his audiences laugh with his unique style.
This is director Ashok Kumar's debut film, and he has done a convincing job by making a commercial film which revolves around friendship. Though the screenplay gets confusing at times, in the end he has pulled off the movie well. Up-and-coming musician Sean Roldan has scored the songs and the background music for Neruppu Da, and has done a decent job with it. RD Rajasekhar's cinematography skills come to the fore and he has shot well.
In short, Neruppu Da, is a good watch.
