Sanjeev is standing in a bus stand when he meets Sreeja Sandhana Pandian, and immediately gets attracted to her. When he tries to impress her, he finds out that she is a petty thief. Disappointed he catches her red handed and starts to scold her. Sreeja then comes up with various excuses and somehow escapes his clutches.
Following that he encounters Kumaresh Kumar, who convinces Sanjeev to join hands with him on a business deal. Which is, if Sanjeev manages to stay over at one of his haunted friend's and area don's, Ramki's, bungalow for a night, and prove that it is just a rumour, then they will be able to sell the bungalow and share the profits. Sanjeev after thinking through, accepts the offer as he is a carefree guy who is ambitious yet, doesn't have a job. But, soon discovers that he has been conned by Kumaresh.
After a while, as a twist of fate he meets Kumaresh again and decides to beat him up for cheating him. Then Kumaresh explains that he himself was conned by Ramki, and that's why he was not able to pay Sanjeev his rightful profit. Similarly they come across Sreeja Sandhana who was also a victim of Ramki. The rest of the plot revolves around the how the three get together and take revenge on the conning thief.
Sanjeev, Sreeja Sandhana Pandian and Kumaresh Kumar, has delivered a tad more dramatic yet a decent performance. Supporting actress Meenakshi Sarkar has played a pivotal role and has tied to play the role of a scary haunting ghost, but then it was just the exact opposite. The film's antagonist Ramki, has pulled of his character well.
Kumaresh Kumar has attempted to make a con heist film, mixed with humour, horror and action. The film starts off interestingly but then it takes a pathetic downfall, as he has tried to include so many genres, that the screenplay looses track and fails to make sense towards the end. This film is a classic example of good story gone bad, and bad direction. MC Rico has handled the music department and his background scores are better compared to his songs. Sai Sathish's cinematography skills come to the fore and he has shot well.
In short, English Padam, is below average.
