Though Guru Jeeva has studied well, he has been taught to be carefree and simply waste his time by sleeping and being jobless. As he was bought up like that, once he finished his college, he became lazy and useless along with his two friends, one of them is Pandiarajan Rathnam. In this situation he falls in love with the village head's daughter, Aara, who initially avoids him, but then accepts his love.
Following that, Guru's best friend's grand mother unexpectedly passes away. As he was also jobless like him, they struggle a lot to pay for her last rituals. Finally, the villagers get together and donate a little sum of money for him to perform the necessary rightful rituals. Aara also insults Guru for being so irresponsible and at that situation he realises the value of money and self respect and decides to work.
Meanwhile, MS Bhaskar is the area MLA, and is compared to Harichandra, as he is calm, honest and hardworking. But, like all other politicians he is also corrupted and hides his money worth 100 crores at his farm house. Guru somehow gets to know about this and decides to steal it all and get settled in life. So he forms a small group with his two friends and plot a way to get his hands on the money. The rest of the plot revolves around how he steals the money and what he does to stabilise his life and gain respect.
Debutant Guru Jeeva has pulled of his character well, that casual and local attitude works well with his performance. Aara has acted well, and has emoted the emotions well and in a subtle way. Though Pandiarajan Rathnam has traveled the entire movie, his role is not that impactful. MS Bhaskar, Imman Annachi and Namo Narayana have done justice in playing their parts neatly.
B Dhandapani has attempted to make a rural based entertainer and has done a decent job. Though the movie lacked a story which keeps you engaged with the script, the making is pretty good. Dhalapathy Krushy has handled the camera and he has shot well. Taj Noor has provided the tunes for the film and his background scores are much better than his songs.
In short, Guru Uchaththula Irukkaru, can be watched once.
