Tovino Thomas leads a lonesome life as a corporate professional in Chennai. His parents are business mongrels who finds little time to spare for their son. He comes across Pia Bajpai through social media, and ardernt social worker, who also owns an organic farm shop. Impressed with her vlogs he soon falls for her and desperately tries to initiate a friendship with her.
After numerous attempts, Tovino finally succeeds in capturing her attention. They grow closer to each other through online. Following that they soon fall in love with each other and get married even before awaiting for their parents blessings.
Meanwhile, Pia gets pregnant and the newly weds are over the moon with joy. In this situation, the couple is embarked on a secret by their parents which shatters their life. What is the secret and how do they over come this hurdle forms the rest of the story.
Tovino Thomas makes an impressive debut into Kollywood with this film. The effort he put in his character were fabulous and he has a long way to go in the industry. Though it feels weird to listen to his Malayalam accented Tamil, he has to be applauded for attempting to dub in his own voice in his first Tamil film.
Pia Bajpai delivers a beautiful performance. Especially during the climax, where she aces in emoting various shades of acting. Prabhu, Suhasini and Rohini play pivotal roles and they have delivered an impactful performance.
Cinematographer BR Vijayalakshmi has successfully donned the directors hat through Abiyum Anuvum. Though many loose ends are visible, she has done a fair job at the direction department. She has to be appreciated for choosing a controversial topic for a romantic drama film. Yet, she fails to deliver it in an impactful way and overly melodramatic. Vijayalakshmi could have shown more importance in tightening the scripts. Also, the pair's on-screen romance seemed artificial.
Cinematographer Agilan's camera skills come to the fore, and he has handled it well with innovative shots and angles. C Dharan Kumar has handled the music department and his songs and background scores are average.
In short, Abiyum Anuvum, is a romance story gone wrong.
